FreeWave Technologies announces the end-of-life of the HTPlus Series of 900MHz industrial radios.  The replacement product for this series is the ZumLink 900 series.  FreeWave will provide standard warranties for any new HTPlus units sold. Warranties for existing HTPlus units still under warranty remain valid. FreeWave will also offer full Customer Support for all new and existing HTPlus units and provide best-practices for the migration to new ZumLink 900 Series. Note that the ZumLink and HTPlus Series are not over-the-air compatible.

The ZumLink 900 Series includes ZumBoostTM RF technology, four performance-enhancing algorithms that can be used independently or together to ‘boost’ throughput in the most demanding RF environments.  With Adaptive Spectrum Learning, Forward Error Correction, Packet Compression and Packet Aggregation, ZumBoost improves the reliability and throughput of wireless data links. FAQ's - END OF LIFE : HTPlus Series

FreeWave Technologies appreciates your business. We have received numerous questions regarding the end-of-life status of the HTPlus Series of products; therefore we would like to provide clarification around the following frequently asked questions:

Why is the HTPlus going End-of-life?
FreeWave has relationships with dozens of component suppliers who provide critical parts for our products.  Relative to the HTPlus Series, we are no longer able to source a vital component of the radio.

Why such a short notice?
FreeWave’s policy is to provide at least one year’s notice before the product is unavailable.  In the case of the HTPlus series, the short notice is due to unforeseen supply chain issues. 

Does this affect other FreeWave products?
Please note the lack of this component WILL NOT AFFECT ANY OTHER PRODUCT OR SERIES in the FreeWave portfolio.  Rest assured no other product lines are projected to go end of life in the near future. 

What is FreeWave’s recommendation for the migration to the ZumLink products?

Migrating to ZumLink DOES NOT require you to “rip and replace” your HTPlus network, nor does it require the purchase of additional devices. To extend an existing network, we recommend a Coexistence strategy. This is where both an HTPlus and a ZumLink network co-exist harmoniously. The ZumLink 900 Series was designed to coexist with features such as Adaptive Spectrum Learning where it “listens before talks” and can communicate in separate areas of the band from the HTPlus. Please review our application note to better understand this strategy.
