Configuring Device Groups
By default, when using FreeWave Bluetooth Sensors, the sensor readings will communicate through any nearby FreeWave Fusion Minis.
For example, if you have two Fusion Minis and a HiveBeats sensor close together, the HiveBeats sensor data will communicate through both Fusion Minis. This means the same Bluetooth sensor readings will appear against multiple gateways.
The FreeWave Data Portal allows you to configure Device Groups which allow the assignment of Bluetooth Sensors to specific gateways.
When creating Device Groups, this is a portal configuration. If you do have a sensor appearing in multiple gateways, the sensor readings will still be received and transmitted by both gateways, even after creating the device group but the portal will read the device group settings and only display the sensor data for the relevant sensor in the device group.
NB: This is not relevant for RS-485 as they are directly attached to gateways.
Click on your username and in the pop-up, select Device Groups.
A list of currently configured device groups appears.
To create a device group, select +Create Device Group You will be asked to name the group and give a description if required. Press Create and then the new device group will appear in the list.
Click the Edit icon to set up your new device group.
The name and description will already be there from before.
Use the Gateway drop-down to select the gateway you want the device group set up for.
Use the Sensors dropdown to select the sensor or sensors you want to be allocated to that gateway.
Click Save when done.
Your new device group has been created.
